It's nice to have the economy of an inkjet with the print quality of laser. Once you get your first toner cartridge (find one on Ebay), then do your own toner refills. The controls are one-touch and organized well. Very good compatibility between printer and software utilities. Easy to set up without a manual. Scanner needs a tool to save scans as jpeg rather than bitmaps. It has the feel of a business machine when you make a photocopy, unlike some of the junk inkjet MFPs I've had. Also, very good support from Dell online.
FYI: the scanner lock is inside the bay on the upper left (blue switch) - pull it forward to unlock. I had to search around for that a bit. Also, when finished with the software installation, uninstall the toner management system (through control panel - add/remove programs). It's just a way for Dell to make extra bucks off you.
It has the best combination of devices, so that you can use one laptop for many purposes.
DVD-RW ensures backward compatibility with all types of optical discs
Micro-SD makes moving photos SO easy, it just registers as another drive in Windows Explorer.
Plenty of USB slots. Big bonus is the dual HDMI/VGA out which operates automatically just by plugging in the cord. I love the calculator button right on the keyboard! Also the dual WIFI (With Bluetooth) and Ethernet cable ports so you can connect with whomever, wherever.
My suggestions - 1. Get an E545 with a quad core or at least a dual core 2.1-2.9 GHz. Single core processors are no longer workable for internet communications. You need to be running Norton to prevent attacks and theft of data. In order to do this you need dual or quad core processing. Also, run superglue around the upper seam of the laptop when you first get it. You never need to access that seam to make upgrades, but doing this will save the laptop from being destroyed when you drop it. NEVER DROP THIS LAPTOP! Because it is a full-size screen, it is easy to crack the frame at the hinges, and you can not repair this once broken. When you buy one, look for cracked frames in this area before committing to buy.

Massive 256gb micro sd from China
The tablet I put it in had a hard time figuring out how to use so much memory. But Androids have a way of figuring things out. It took a month but it finally figured out how to properly display the memory usage. For the price you can give it time to work. Never even think about storage capacity after installing one of these.
