Disappointing CBT

I bought this to follow with my counsellor. Whilst understanding the principles of CBT, I found it difficult to use personal experiences in the exercises from Chapter 4 onwards. The book is fine for counsellor training purposes as I feel it's very academic. I question its value for someone who needs to go on a CBT journey guided by a trained professional.
