War from above in the dark.
I sought to buy this book because I too used to fly in a similar aircraft as the one depicted in the story . I wanted to experience the point of view of other crew members. The plot was very captivating, and well written. Those who are air warfare, or Vietnam war enthusiasts will enjoy this book. Once finished, I was left hoping their might be a sequel or other books written by the same author. This book has been adapted into a screenplay and will hopefully be made into a motion picture one day.

P-38 Lightning at War by Jeffrey L. Ethell, Joe Christy
This book is a fine representation of the P-38 Lightning figther of WWII. The book is one of the many titles among the "at war" series of warplane books. The photographs are a decent selection although you see many of these pictures in other similar topic books. I really like the large format of the book which makes for easy reading and viewing while building a model and needing to focus on a particular part. Jeff Ethell writes a fine text on the aircraft from a historical as well pilot point of view. Jeff was one of the premier "warbird" pilots in the U.S. until his recent passing a few years ago while flying a P-38. Jeff's father was a WWII P-38 pilot whom I am sure gave Jeff a great first hand account of the experience of flying this great aircraft in combat. I recommend the title for enthusiasts of this airplane, modelers who are into high fidelity detail, and collectors of the "at war" collection.

Outer Limits - "The Galaxy Being" (VHS, 1987)
This is considered by many critics the performance that got Cliff Robertson on the acting map. I agree with them. The concept of the story is unique, I have not seen this storyline copied by newer sci-fi shows. Many years ago I saw a critique about this episode on a sci-fi movie documentary. To make the being have his translucent light effect they put the guy in a scuba diver suit, painted it with oil and shot the scenes with him in negative light to dark film format. Keeping in mind this was the mid 60s the effect was spectacular. For those of you who are black and white sci-fi enthusiasts this one is a must and you will watch it more than once I promise you. This is spooky enough to keep kids very interested without any gore or foul language, or sexual suggestions. If you can find it, buy it, you wont regret it.
