Canon EF 28-70mm F/2.8 usm lens
3 of 3 found this helpful I purchased this lens to use for indoor sports. In particular, basketball in high school gyms where the lighting is poor. I was using a 50mm f/1.4 usm lens and it did great, but, i was limited to the fixed aperture.
This 28-70mm f/2.8 lens does a good job in these gyms and I am satisfied with it.
I just wish that Canon made a zoom like this at 2.0 or 1.8 but they don't.
This lens has now been replaced with the 24-70mm version, but I am very satisfied with the 28-70mm older version as it does what I need as I don't need shorter thatn 28mm in these gyms we play in. I have had many lenses over the years since starting and if I had to do it over i would start with "L" grade glass instead of wasting a lot of time and money on lenses with less IQ.
Anyway, unless you need the extra 4mm, I would recommend this lens and it will save you some money. It is very, very fast and SHARP. What more do you need?

Smooth writing and easy to grip. My fingers do not slip down on the pen as I write with it as some do.
