Designed to hold air?

One of the tubes had a hole, a rip about a half inch long. It was a factory defect. I've ridden tens of thousands of miles, purchased and installed many tubes, and this was a first for me. It looked like a rim flat, only it wasn't because it never made it on the rim. I don't know the frequency of this defect, so I can't offer advice about purchasing, just know I'll pay a little more next time and purchase a higher quality tube.

Excellent tire

I've toured over 30,000 miles on CST Salvos and they are as flatproof as Marathons for the first 3,000 miles. I highly recommend this tire. It is heavy, weighs about the same as a Marathon, so you won't be winning any races. However, you also won't be stopping time and again to fix flats.
