Made to last a lifetime

Used this knife for many years, sometimes for bread but mostly for more difficult tasks like slicing meat. It's wonderful and kept an edge for a long time. I bought this one for our son-in-law who loves to grill and slice his own steaks and other meats. When it's time to sharpen (after a lot of years), be sure to take it to a professional who can take proper care of the serrations. It will last you a lifetime as it's from Germany.

You get what you pay for

Like a lot of other strongly branded companies, Zwilling - Henckels has profited from fielding a low-end, Made in China line. They also have a middle of the road offering that's Made in Spain (I have no experience with it other than its price point). You will pay premium for the Made In Germany version, which is what established their company and reputation. So your choice -- it's a classic case of getting what you are willing to pay for.

Relieved to find an out-of-production part

OEM part that's out of production. It let me repair our our 30-year-old GE Hi-Lo double range. My wife loves it because it bakes perfectly despite being "old" and all-analog. Happy wife, happy life.
