Windows 98 and ram
I bought this to max out ram in a compaq 5834 desktop just to see if it would perform any better on the internet. Yes, I got a windows 98 machine on the internet in 2016. It did speed it up some. And this kind of ram is old technology so it is cheap. Im trying to put together a legacy machine that can play old dos games from disk

This was a good buy, you mite have to jump through some hoops to get the os
The only reason that I am giving this 4 stars is that it is kind of hard to find the original restore disks for this computer. I bought it for my son, it is a vista computer, it had 1.5 gb of ram when I got it, vista coa. So I put a ssd 32gb sata hd in it and once I got the system disks it works just fine. I am in it about $100 so that isn't bad for my 8 year old. I figured it would be good for videos and pictures since that is what he used his old one for.

NO ONBOARD BIOS
If you buy this computer you better be sure to have the system disks for it because it doesn't come with an onboard BIOS. Apparenty Compaq was a hold out for incorporating flash BIOS. Without the system disks it is a glorified DOS machine. The BIOS was saved on the hard drive. Also in the ad that I bought it from, it did say that it posted which was technically correct......it just didn't post to any BIOS. So yeah, deceptive advertising got me a $30 paperweight.
