Great while it lasted ...
5 of 8 found this helpful I have this unit. It was more than ample filling a 24 by 35 great room with fair quality sound. It has way too many sound field selections AND YES, it can be turned off by the remote. But it just died. Of course, it is more than 7 years old and out of warrantee. No one will service this thing. Sony promises to take a look at the unit for $122 so long as I ship it to them ($expensive$). It seems more cost efficient to simply buy a new unit. Oh Well.
