the best camera in this quality range
I researched cameras in this quality range and this Canon powershot was the best value. We have two of them and are very satisfied. This camera will allow you to zoom or get right up for a close-up so near that the lens is almost touching the subject. Pop out the memory card and insert into your laptop and download. The ony negative I can think of is the camera goes thru a lot of batteries. It even survived a chest high drop onto concrete without damage.

I recently discovered Robert Crais' Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series. Very exciting with lots of LA flavor.
