Easy read, simple instructions, and entertaining background. Gotta have this one, honestly.
Sammy Hagar's more known for his rock 'n roll resume and tequila brand, but it turns out the guy's as good riffing with recipes as he is with his signature red guitars. The dishes and cocktails each come with their own stories from Sammy's life, usually about where he was and what he was doing and who he was doing it with at the time.
Although not all of the dishes are readily reproduced in my kitchen, a number of items have already gotten bookmarks in the pages; I've also made chicken-fried steak along with two sides (Sammy, you're awesome!) and there's a pot of white beans soaking for tomorrow's experiments.
You don't have to be a Sammy Hagar fan or a brilliant cook/chef/baker (doesn't hurt to have skills in the kitchen, though) in order to enjoy this cookbook. Having an open mind about the recipes is a good idea, however; Hagar writes his recipes in a way that invites improvisation and substitution in case the reader isn't blessed with several avenues of residual income and a fat account from being a best-selling rockstar.
Grab a copy, grab a drink, and get acquainted with a wide selection of foods from the Red Rocker.
