Digital decoder vs Digital converter
This product performs as directed for many OLDER devices were a "decoder" is not required. New sound formats may not work if your (source) device does not support PCM/LPCM,if your device will only output in Dolby or other DTS formats, the converter is incapable of "decoding" these signals, thus producing static or white noise an up grade to decoder may be required[such as the CE Compass Digital SPDIF] devices in question may be new blu ray players. Keep in mind this is a converter NOT a decoder.

Gain
Doesnt have 40db of gain as described. Very similar in gain and pick up to Antops 30db gain antennas. It works fine just not better than I had.Nor does it outperform the competitor, so shop by price.
