Great CD for Christmas
Excellent. Bing Crosby songs for Christmas--does not get any better than this!
Song #6 is hard to find: "Christmas Dinner, Country Style."
It is a corny song, but I love it because it takes me back to when I was a child and Christmas dinner and Thanksgiving dinner were actually Italian style. My parents made a HUGE Dinner for 25 to 30 people (and most people took home doggy bags): Lasagna, meatballs, veal cutlet parmigiana, antipasto, etc. And then she brought out the Turkey, stuffing, etc etc
And just when you thought you would explode . . . a cornucopia of DESSERT.
It was wonderful. So song #6 (although Southern style) is my Italian style sweet (loud) memories of the holidays when my parents were alive and young and vigorous and generous. I will always remember my parents with this corny song (#6).

Diary of a Mad Housewife (VHS)
4 of 4 found this helpful This movie was made around 1970, and amazingly when I recently viewed the movie it seemed like it was produced "yesterday": all of the "lessons" of the movie still apply in this new century.
I purchased this movie for someone that I know, who is married, to help "teach" her how a marriage and self-esteem can go downhill with a verbally abusive spouse . . . and how some people live with verbal abuse on a daily basis and become almost numb and robot-like in their day-to-day living.
This film shows a spouse causing his mate to feel inadequate with practically every single thing she did in the privacy of their home and additionally in front of others. Another sad part of the movie was that her children (learning verbal abuse) were treating her almost as badly as her husband. It was not a sad movie as much as a life lesson. In addition, the clever director sometimes used humor when he changed from one scene to another.
Like the lead female character in the film, our life is sometimes filled with bad choices. When we get swallowed-in by another persons life, we tend to forget our own existence and our own importance. Even though the writers of this film give you the impression that the female lead's life seemed doomed (almost a self-inflicted doom), the film hints that one has to be strong and feel self-important in order to deal with others. Watching this film, I felt like shouting at the screen: Leave him! NOW! Go! Run!
I think this film is an important film and the perfect classic.
