Used on a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. This...
Used on a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. This kit works. Gaskets are well made, with good material, and a clean edge cut. They fit, and they seal the bowls. No drips. The jets are stamped with size which as a major positive compared to some other kits. The apparent size of the jets matches the apparent size of the old factory jets. This is a visual judgement, as I do not have the means to actually measure, but held up to the light, they look correct. The jets fit the carburetor, having correct thread. The float valve needle and seat. These MUST be used together. You cannot use the original seat and a new needle, as these are a steel needle, and not rubber like the original. You have to use the matched seat and needle in the kit. If you do, they seal and shut off the float bowl fuel supply. You may need to tweak from factory recommendation to get correct fuel level in the bowl, as you are changing needle style, but this is good as there is no rubber to degrade from ethanol in the fuel. These are also different from original in not having the little wire that slips over the float. This is OK, they will still work: there is no rubber to stick in the valve needing the wire to help pull it out when the float drops. The long needle is different from stock in material and the taper is somewhat different. Remember, the stock setup is EPA lean. This needle will give you a bit more fuel at higher speeds. It will work, but it may require some tuning on the air/fuel screw, or you can re-use the original needle if they are not damaged and need replacing. The air/fuel screw is of the correct thread and design, and fits works with the spring, washer and o-ring. Overall, this is a good option with a very complete repair and replace kit for a 1981 XJ650 Maxim. One may reasonably assume that the recommendation on what bikes this will work with is accurate, however pay attention with old bikes, you never know what a previous owner may have done, like swap out the factory Hitachi carbs for a set of Mikuni carbs...

Quality Rain Covers
Heavy duty construction, water proof, easy on and off. Compared to other over boots, these are form fitted, fit true to size, and seem very durable. Quality is comparable to HD brand.
