1 of 1 found this helpful Upgraded my 2010 Gateway NV-59C laptop I had laying under the bed that hadn’t been used in 3 years. It had a i3-370M, SSD, and 8gb ram. I looked up some videos on how to take the laptop apart to access the CPU. Destroyed the keyboard in the process but that’s my own fault. Swapped it with a new keyboard and she’s good as new. Just make sure you update the BIOS to accept the new CPU BEFORE you install the i7-640M or windows will not open.
This CPU upgrade gave new life to my old gateway which will make it usable for several more years!
