Considering its price point, this is a mic to add to your collection.
Amazing mic, especially for its price point. I've only had mine for a week and have used it in a number of different applications. This mic immediately brought to life the violin in a worship band environment. Worked equally well on percussion in a large club without the need for side-chain compression or gating. Just purchased 2 more based on these experiences.
    Shure BETA52A Kick Drum Microphone

    Big ol' lump of Thump
I have 4 other kick drum capable mics, 2x Audix D6 and 2x Audio-Technica ATM-25's. The Beta 52A offers a bit more distinctive "classic rock kick" sound - not to diminish the sound and capabilities of the other mics, but the B52A expands my palette of low-frequency offerings. Sounds great under a large djembe too! Sturdy and well constructed - easily one of the heaviest mics I own, weighing nearly as much as a large tube studio condenser! Again, for me it's about having a wide range of color options with my live mics and this fits nicely with it's locker-mates ~ especially when you've got a middle-aged slugger behind the skins who wants that thud turned up to 11!
Audix VX5 Supercardioid Electret Condenser Vocal Microphone

    More Impressive Than The Hype.
I read many positive reviews of this microphone before purchasing it. However, I must say that few microphones have ever really impressed me and this is the 4th Audix microphone which has really blown me away with its sound and my 15th Audix microphone purchase. I put it on a female vocalist with a very powerful voice who has a Beyerdynamics mic which sometimes does not get along with the venue's soundboard. She proclaims herself to be "so not about tech" but said she has fallen in love with this mic after only 2 performances. She further proclaimed that the mic seems to make her singing an effortless affair. Along with the OM-5, ADX-40 & ADX-51, the VX5 has continued to uphold my faith that Audix microphones are the best live mics in the USA.
