Boils water in 12.5 minutes.
The lid sits firmly. I expected it to hit my fingers, when I pull it up while holding the handle, but somehow it stays parallel to the floor at all times, wonderful.
I like that spout is placed high, to prevent scum from getting into cup. There’s a little grate with four holes inside, where the spout is welded to the kettle. Red enamelled Bonjour kettles do not have that grate.
Plastic handle can be taken with bare hands, if you take the kettle off the stove right after it boiled the water (I didn’t try to leave it on the stove for more than 15 minutes). Hot steam rushes from below the lid, when you tilt the kettle to pour water, so watch your hand. Don’t worry about the lid – it stays fixed.
The arcs on which plastic handle is fixed, heat much less than the case. I can touch them, when I can’t touch the case.
Copper bottom welded(?) nicely, everything is shiny, inside too.
If you start pouring still boiling water, expect one spout of steam ~25 cm long parallel to the floor, when you tilt it enough to start pouring water. Some water can follow the spout of steam. So better wait a little, most teas require less than 100°C anyway.
The lid handle can be screwed off, the screw is welded into the lid, from below there’s no screw head, the surface below is perfectly smooth (in Red enamelled Bonjour kettles the lid is compound and the crew can be detached).
I think, that if the kettle would have wider bottom, it would boil even faster, but I can accept its ‘barrel’ design as is.
I am very happy with this kettle and hope, that it will serve me for decades.
