Amp blew in 4 days
1 of 1 found this helpful The amp blew in 4 days. Running 2 5th gen alpine type r swr12d4 subs bridged. Gain was not touched, it came tuned to satisfaction. Amp sounded amazing for the 4 days it worked, it seemed to have a thermal shutdown, then turned back on after a few seconds, I then shut the amp off for an hour. After that time I turned the head unit back on, played a song, and the subs never came on. Pulled over, tested the connections had 12v going into the amp, ground was good, remote wire had power, however the amp still doesn't come on. Did not have volume so high it distorted or anything. I am experienced with sound systems and have installed a "few" in my lifetime. I would like to have the amp replaced under warranty or something to that extent, means how it blew in less than a week. Would be able to send it back if I were guaranteed a different amp that would last more than a week. If no compromise can be made I'll just rebuild it myself.
