Incredible lens
2 of 2 found this helpful I got this lens and the 55, I test them both, side by side. It at 1.8 to 1.8 the 55 was a bit sharper at those aperture this 50 was sharper on the corner. 2.8 and up... no way to tell the difference.
Colors pop very beautifully , with firmware v3 on a7iii is fast and it focus on darkness as good as the zeiss. Yes the zeiss has a better construction and it look very cool but if you have only 200 bucks! Or if 50 is not your main lens but maybe 85 or 35,... no way I will get the zeiss over this one.
Oh! I sold the zeiss, kept this 50 and got the 85 fe!... and with the rest of the money , waiting for the rumored 35 1.8g 👌.

5 of 5 found this helpful Indeed, I actually got this and the sony since those who tested Sennheizer they do prefer it and of course Sony has all the hype.
No doubt Sennheizer 550ii has better Sound signature, And sony much more bass. Better anc , Me personally I dislike the Sony how it sound despite the eq you chose.
Sony has a much better apps and keep updating it, here is where Sennheizer fail, it is obvious it software department it is far behind Sony.
Super confortable and responsive.

I use this beauty on sony a7 iii with techart, both with last firmware make the lens behave ... can say 70% as native regarding af speed, it miss some times the eye ( eye af) of course, It is not as accurate as the zeiss but still it is very very fast to focus. It render beautifully , super fast and small, so as an enthusiast and a non video person I decide to get rid of my zeiss. Get this lens it ccompletly worth it, specially if you have Tap.
