#1 take everywhere camera.
3 of 4 found this helpful I ditched my dslr's in order to have a camera to take everywhere. You can get remarkable results in either the point and shoot mode or use it like a dslr. More suited for enthusiasts or professionals as the price tag is a hard sell for the occasional user. The touch screen is such a huge benefit over the sony rival. No 4k but thats not something I need. Buy an extra battery. No need for my dslr unless its a for money gig. Taking everything into consideration, this is a top 5 camera.

Canon 30D
I purchased this as a 2nd or a backup to my 40D. Very similar features to the 40D for about $100 less (used). For straight photography, I think the 40D is hands down the best for the $$. Easier / more comfortable to use than the 50D or 60D or 7D. This said the 30D is simply just a step down from the 40D and much better than the 20D.

10 of 10 found this helpful Labeling this as an entry level full frame camera doesn't do this justice. Duel pixel feature for focusing is really great along with flip out screen. The challenge here with professional photographers is that using the features like touch screen and live view may make the photographer "look" unprofessional. The truth is that using these features will help get better shots. Put the ego's aside at let this camera do its job. The only pro drawback I can see is the single card slot. This camera is a winner.
