It Never Shut Off

I used it a week before I noticed the unit had a fan that never shuts off. I finally unplugged it and the noise and fan stopped. I don't know if it's a flawed unit but I only plug it in when I want to use my Xbox. Which is less than usual being that I forgot to unplug a couple times. I never asked if this is normal function or if it needs to be replaced.
