Schweeet addition
Didn’t like using headphones to detect before because of the hassle of setting the detector down on the ground and having to bend over and untether my headphones from my head. Easy to set up and use.. I hear more of those signals I was missing now. Coincidence, but I dug up 3 rings last week using it. Junkers but they were rings! Easy to charge and use. I run the excess headphone cord attached to the receiver into my detecting vest pocket. Spoiled now. I run it on a Garrett ace 400. I will be getting another for my other 400 that my time to time hunting buddies use just because. No issues, I’ve had it two weeks and have used it 5 days in a row. I decided to go ahead and charge it for the weekend hunts. Only thing I wish is for an extra attachment band as I will either lose it or it will eventually break. A rubber band would do in a pinch though. I love the addition of it to my detector, simple to attach and doesn’t make it awkward and heavy.

Be Expert With Map & Compass by Bjorn Kjellstrom (1994,
2 of 2 found this helpful I have recently started geocaching and have been dependant on gps to help me locate various caches. I wanted to learn about using a compass and terrain maps. I got the book in the mail yesterday and have read almost half so far. The book has a great practice map included and has various skill tests to perform after you have read. It is a very easy read and really informative. It doesnt use high tech terms that are difficult to understand.
I dont know at this time if there is a more updated version that would deal with incorporating gps or not, but this is a definate recommended book for any outdoors person. It does have a section included on orientering competetions that doesnt really interest me at this moment, I was only looking for information on learning how to use map and compass in the field. But this would be a great resource for someone looking to master these skills.
