Made the engine run much smoother.
They were genuine Motorcraft spark plugs. I inspected them with a magnifier, and they looked fine. I measured the resistance of each one and that also was good. I checked the gap; it was the gap they were supposed to be set for by the part number, but not the right gap for my GF's car. This is normal, Ford changed up a few things and mostly sells these for their trucks, which use a smaller gap. The box says not to adjust the gap, but if you need to, you need to. I used a proper gapping tool - be very careful if you adjust the gap - it's easy to damage the plugs. That's why they say not to adjust.
Anyway, after adjusting the gap to spec for GF's Taurus, I changed the plugs. Old ones had about 80,000 miles on them. Ford manual says they should go about 100,000 and the old ones were still working. But with the new plugs installed, the engine ran much smoother. I was surprised it was so noticeable, but a nice improvement. GF was very happy.
