Not the sound of the 60's hit maker that she became but a good selection of early tracks
As the title says this is 'The Early Years' so don't expect anything similar to her 60's hit singles. Always a very talented singer but I must admit that I prefer her 1964-71 period. This set however is a cheap way to hear earlier songs in good quality. It took me a while to like her 1950's material but it is worth persevering with because their are some good songs on offer here.

A good alternative to the official set
A lot cheaper than the official set and although it has fewer tracks and is possibly lower quality in places it's great value.

The more the merrier
I've never been a big fan of the Band of Gypsys album and had put off buying this boxset based on that. However, when the Band of Gypsy tracks are mixed in amongst other songs each concert flows better.
