Oxford Umbratex Cover Waterproof Outdoor Motorcycle Cover size M Medium CV106
    Aug 30, 2016
    Excellent travelling cover
I bought this as a travelling cover for my CB500, as my heavy duty cover is big and bulky even when packed down as small as I can get it. The Umbratex packs down really small, about the size of my paperback copy of The Lord of the Rings, and easily fits into a small tankbag (you could even fit it in a jacket pocket). In terms of fitting the 'bike, this one is perfect for a CB500 and should fit anything around that size. There's a fair bit of stretch in the edge elastic, so 'bikes a bit bigger should be OK - but the Oxford website gives proper measurements so best to check there. There was enough stretch to fit around my soft panniers, but I don't think there would be quite enough to go over box panniers, so if you have those you might want to go a size up on what your 'bike actually needs. It fits to the 'bike quickly and easily. There's a front strap for under the headlight/top yoke, two side straps which go round the pegs, and two rear loops that would go round the rear pegs or something, but I found I didn't need to use them. Once on it's pretty secure - I've used it on two trips to the Highlands of Scotland and the wind hasn't shifted it yet. It's also been perfectly waterproof so far. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. The downside of it being so light and packing down so small is that the material is quite thin. It feels strong, though, so I'd expect to get at least a couple of years out of it. The stitching seems solid enough, so I think the risk factor would be catching it on something sharp that could snag it. Mind you, if you have sharp edges on your 'bike you should probably sort those out!
