Nice for surround sound duty, perhaps a dull choice as main speakers
1 of 1 found this helpful Nice for surround sound duty, perhaps a dull choice as main speakers -- that is how I would describe these in a nutshell. They are my first DefTech speakers. It's hard to ask much from speakers so small. They are basically decent sized computer speakers. They would excel at that duty and even be a bit overbuilt for that type of duty. Hopefully they will suffice as Atmost overhead surround speakers for my living room -- I tested them as main front audio speakers to get an idea of sound quality. They are good for their size, but not spectacular. For surround duty, this failure to sound spectacular should not be a problem. Given their power handling, design, size, weight, and price, I would not choose anything else to use on my ceiling while doing my home theater upgrade. So, they're not magical for music, but they do have extreme value for certain uses.

Another flawless product from ATI
Although this amplifier is not one of their newest designs and has some years on it age-wise, I knew I could rely upon one if purchased. I got the amplifier, and just like a high-end, brand-new product, it's dead silent when no music is coming through it -- a hallmark of a quality amplifier. With music, it's phenomenal. I have bridged the two channel pairs together to form a more powerful two channel amplifier form this normally four channel amplifier. The headroom is clearly high, the power is immense, it has full damping control over any speaker I connect to it, and there is no perceivable distortion at all. The bass frequencies are full and authoritative, and highest treble frequencies are pristine and crystal clear, and everything in between is the same. This amp rocks. It may not an older product, and mine has some scratches here and there, but it's rock solid. It will be running strong long after new high end receivers have been manufactured, sold, and run into the ground. ATI is every bit as good as the hype, and as good or better than any other brand of amplifier I have ever tested (probably tested over 40 different brands.)
