Great Quality Canvas Briefcase
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased this Filson briefcase recently and have been carrying it daily for about 2 weeks. It is my first Filson product that I've ever purchased. Plenty of nice styling details and small compartments for pens, supplies, etc. The quality is outstanding. The materials are the highest grade and the workmanship is the best. There is absolutely no comparison in the quality level of this Filson bag to all of those other bags online that photograph well and appear to look good until you see them in person. The canvas is very thick, the zippers are heavy duty metal and the leather pieces are high quality. This bag will probably outlast my lifetime. I have a similar canvas "TUMI" bag along with other Tumi luggage and am a big supporter of Tumi quality, but this bag is a higher quality than my similar Tumi bag. I rated this bag 5 stars but there are a couple of items that I'd change, but these are not quality issues and are so minor that they can't effect the overall score. The shoulder strap color doesn't match the canvas well; it is a much lighter color than the online photo. I would suggest a color that matches the canvas or a dark brown color to match the leather. I pulled my dark brown strap from my Tumi case to use with this Filson bag and it looks great. Please note that the quality of the strap is outstanding it's just a coloring problem. The other issue is "weight". The thickness of the canvas and high quality metal zippers have a trade-off, they're heavier than expected, and when you throw a laptop, iPad, battery back-ups, etc. it does become much heavier to carry. But, the weight does not affect my overall 5 star score, quality is more important to me than a little extra weight. Pay the little extra money for a quality bag like this Filson. I will be purchasing other Filson products in the future.
