Suspenceful and intriguing
3 of 3 found this helpful This series is set in the fictional British city of Denton and centers on the not-so-by-the-book Detective Inspector Jack Frost (David Jason). A favorite of the Chief Constable and reciprient of the George Cross for bravery, Jack is an old fashioned "copper" who bends the rules by insisting on following his nose to catch the bad guy while struggling at times to keep up with a modern day police force. Each episode consists of two or thee separate crimes of varying seriousness that Frost and his team must cope with, all the while under the watchful and sometimes frustrated eye of Superintendent Mulett (Bruce Alexander). The regular characters are well defined and well acted throughout the series, The viewing quality of the first few episodes in a little grainy but considering the first episodes were filmed is 1992, I'm guessing the transfer quality to DVD was the best they could do. Overall the series is well written and well acted with loads of action, suspense and a touch of humor. One of the better British police dramas. I would also recommended The Last Detective and Midsumer Murders.
