My first 'Home' screen replacement, using this product!
2 of 2 found this helpful I was warned some of these kits use cheaper plastic screens. Firstly, this screen was good quality glass and a Samsung original product. Secondly, it contains everything you'd need to complete this job at home:
- all the needed tools;
- all the glues and cleaning fluids (in appropriate quantities, too);
- the blue thing, the same shape as the phone (an absolutely essential piece of kit - don't buy a kit that doesn't include this); &
- two cleaning cloths (something I thought was a little excessive but actually proved to be necessary).
The only thing you need to add to this to make everything complete is an expert to fit it for you and I believe this is included under the description (and if not, there's plenty of step-by-step online sources of information showing exactly how to remove the old glass and fit the new). Due to inexperience, I made a small mistake on fitting and so have 3 tiny bubbles that I couldn't remove from the glue behind the screen (but you really have to look to see these).
Some weeks on, the phone still looks and works like new. Everyone is impressed with the job I've done. I doubt I've have been able to do it without this particular kit. Would I recommend it? Yes I would.
Any advice? Be careful when removing the old screen. Using a hair dryer, it needs to be too hot to comfortably touch for the glue to soften enough to start to peel the damaged glass screen off the touch screen - but make it too hot and you risk damaging the touch screen, making this job a lot more expensive. If you always error on the side of caution when doing this and exercise patience, you'll have a perfect phone soon enough. Also, ensure you apply enough glue to the new screen before fitting, removing the excess from the sides of the phone where there are no buttons. You must do this properly the first time because removing and refitting it will result on there being 20 times more bubbles that then have to be removed (hence my being left with only three tiny ones instead of the one tiny one that was there after my first fitting).
I'd like to thank the supplier for selling such a well put together product and wish all prospective buyers of this the best of luck when repairing their phone using this kit, not that they'll need it if they research how to do the repair (as per the description and Youtube videos) and then, do so exercising patience, erring always on the side or caution.
With the right guidance and this kit, you cannot fail! Have fun, do well and enjoy your wonderful phone looking and working as it should, again.
