ACTUALLY 7 OF THE BEST x 3
A must for any England rugby fan showing some of the teams greatest moments on the field with some useful insights from Bill Beaumont,Rob Andrew and Lawrence Dallaglio who where there at the time.
However, I would have liked to have heard the views and comments of Will Carling particularly after the 'old farts' comment that nearly cost him the captaincy at the advent of the professional game.
The extra game in each set is also a nice bonus.
Thoroughly enjoyed all 3 disks and can easily be watched again and again.

Flambards The Complete Series (DVD)
1 of 4 found this helpful The story line sounded interesting as its set in the era that interests me and of which I have read many books by R F Delderfield, E V Thompson etc. As I hadn't any recall of it on TV in my 20's (mid 1970's)I wasn't sure about buying it as I knew none of the actors names but based on the other reviews I did.
What a mistake, the bucolic opening scenes of horses & early aeroplanes flying above a big country house set in parklands were immediately spoiled by the painfully inappropriate and annoying 'music' which only gets worse through the episodes. So much so that I had to turn the sound down and search for the sub titles button. There's too much of it, its so unnecessary and woefully tedious.
The dialogue is poor, the characterisation is shallow and dire and the whole thing seems to be taken off the cliche shelf with no heavyweight actor to carry the rest of a mediocre cast. It's a shame as I found the costumes and location sitting well with the appropriate type of motor cars and planes which is where it looks like most of the budget must have gone.
I finally gave up half way through as the music drove me nuts, I would say that the composer/arranger is to 'music' what Bernard Manning was to ballet.
How the producer & director allowed it is beyond me but I now realise why nobody I have spoken to since had heard of it, seen it or remembered it.
If you're a lover of horses, old cars and planes, cliche characters and are tone deaf then this is for you and you might find my copy in a charity shop, otherwise don't waste your money.
I guess if I want to find out what happens, I shall have to read the book or just the very unhelpful reviews THAT TELLS YOU WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END! UNBELIEVABLE .
