The Wars of the Roses: England's first civil war by Trevor Royle (Paperback)

Profoundly disappointing.

I bought this book having read the author's excellent book on the English Civil Wars. I could not have been more disappointed. Of the 430+ pages of the book, the first 154 were not about the Wars of the Roses and, while of course some introduction is necessary, almost half the book is not. Towton, by contrast, only merits three or four pages and the Bosworth campaign less than half a dozen! There are much better single volume accounts than this one.
