Works if you work it
2 of 2 found this helpful It can almost 2 weeks late and the box was disgusting where all the oil from inside the motor had leaked out. Also some of the parts were broken or missing. After a thorough cleaning and fumbling with some parts, I got it together. Luckily I had preemptively bought some additional vacuum pump oil and was able to refill the motor. Once you turn it on you have to press down on the lid a bit for the suction to start, but once it starts it maintains the suction. It pulls a vacuum as expected and is the cheapest price I could find for this item. Working with it is a little tricky, if you close the ball valve leading to the vacuum before it is depressurized, or if you turn off the vacuum before it is depressurized, oil from the motor will travel up the tube. If you are not careful it will make it all the way into the chamber, which happened to me once. Also the motor constantly released a small amount of white smoke that will burn your eyes. But overall, it pulls a vacuum effectively, and with practice in managing the valves I have been able to tame this beast. It works for me and for the price I can't complain.
