Better than original
1 of 1 found this helpful Needed to replace original drum after 9 years of use due to it cracking at the welded seam. Original drum was polished stainless steel. Though it looked nice it felt very flimsy once taken out of the housing. This replacement unit feels slightly heavier and thus sturdier. Maybe they used thicker gauge steel for this model. Who knows?. It looks like it’s powder coated as well. I don’t care that this new drum is not polished stainless steel. It will be inside the dryer where it won’t be seen. Plus, I’m hoping the powder coating adds an additional layer of protection for the weld at the seam so it doesn’t crack like the previous drum. Also, by getting this version vs the polished stainless steel one I saved at least $200. Only time will tell if this model is more durable than the original it’s replacing. But just from visual and physical inspection I expect it to last just as long if not longer. So I recommend this item if you need to replace the drum in your Samsung dryer.
