NEW Eureka 3670 S3686 SC5745 Motor part #62394-1 Sanitaire Electrolux
    Nov 03, 2015
Doesn't propeerly fit into case of original 3670
If you as looking for a motor for the original Eurika Mighty Mite model 3670, this replacement part will require a a slight modification to the vacuum's case (the original 3670 has a all black case, not a two-color case) as the replacement motor's shaft is slightly longer and larger. If you don't make the modifications, the two case pieces will not fit back together. This replacement part probably is made for the 3670-s and G series. 1). You need to make the hole in the rear case slightly larger. I did this using a steak knife which worked really well. This is he hole that the motor shaft fits in. You can see the shaft if you look at the hole in the rear case of the vacuum. 2) Remove the red wire; it is used on appliance switches that have a Hi/Low setting. 3) To keep the motor from suddenly spinning around during startup, there is a rubber block which fits on the motor's end and seats into the case. Because the replacement motor is slightly longer than the original, you will have to cut off the tapered section of the rubber mount which will give you the additional 1/2" you need to make the case pieces fit snug. The remaining rubber mount seems to still hold the motor firmly in position on my vacuum whenever I start it. To understand what the mount does, think about the engine mounts in your car; same principle. The other option is to trim down the plastic square-shaped mount inside the rear case section, but that is rather complex. As I said, after finally getting the case pieces to fit, my original Mighty Mite seems to work fine and I hope it will last another 15 yeas as it originally lasted. Why did I do this? The vacuum was a gift from my mother who no longer exists. :-(
