    N'Dambi is Far From Lost
Catching one of the fourteen outstanding tunes from N'Dambi's freshman effort, "Little Lost Girls Blues", on an Internet radio station one night left me hungering immediately for more. Musical comparisons between neo-soul contemporaries Eyrakah Badu, Angie Stone, Me'shell Ndegeocello and Jill Scott will automatically come to mind. N'Dambi (born Chonita Gilbert) has been providing background vocals for several years on Badu's Baduizm, Live and Mama's Gun releases, as well as contributing her considerable writing talents. From the opening, sensual Fender Rhodes/synth bass track, "Picture This" through the concluding alternate interlude, "Lonely Woman," N'Dambi weaves her vocals compassionately, yet demanding, around the jazz-soulfilled instrumentation supplied by Madukwu Chinwah. Rather than coming away lost, with this addition to my CD collection, I've found yet another phenomenally talented artist.
Passion Play by Teena Marie (R&B CD, Jul-1994, Sarai) sealed rare hard to find

Lady T's "Passion Play" Doesn't Play Around
Released in 1994 on Teena's independent label having left Epic after disappointing sales on the previous LP, Ivory. Another outstanding recording and material as usual. If you are a Lady T fan and missed this CD, then I highly recommend acquiring it for your library. Considered by many as one of her best. I especially enjoy her cover of the Linda Jones classic, "Hypnotized." Other favorites include the title track, "Slow Grind", "Smooth Tip" and "Breakfast in Bed."
