Death in Venice
1 of 1 found this helpful I saw this film when it first came out in 1971 (I was 17) and I was about to go abroad for the first time, to Venice and last month, I went back again for the second time. The magic of the film and Venice remained intact. The film captures the shimmer and impersonal beauty of Venice wonderfully and Dirk Bogarde's slow slip from obsession to death is quite touching, more so because he knows he will give up everything, wife, child, position for something he can't even touch but only secretly look at.
The film might have been made for Bogarde and Andresen and a lesser director might,no would, have been tempted for a happy ending. But there is no happy ending only a very,very good film. It did not do well at the box office, good films rarely do, but it s well worth seeing even after 36 years and you can't say that for many blockbusters.

Fridge Freezer Thermometer, rather than a Fridge and Freezer one but is it what says on the dial 'Freezer thermometer -it has no markings for fridge

You get what you pay for-unfortunately!
Well only one worked:no pepper or salt came out (I switched over) although both made the grinding noise and the one that worked the light worked too.
I sent an an email the same day,but no response; so one of my very few 'neutral' ratings.
I then bought-from ebay-a much more expensive set which work well ( they working Morphy Richards one is in the kitchen, the other went in the bin; pity as they are a great size and look good but my belief is that these were rejects or re-cycled ones.
I should have know better-they were too cheap!
