  Seller decided he wanted to back out of the deal, and rather than just ask me if I minded that he changed his mind, (I wouldn't have), he created what turned out to be a (poorly) photoshopped message falsely indicating that I wanted to cancel the purchase. He cut off communication when I asked what was going on.
