Yola is a huge Talent without a doubt!; and British!

Yola is an amazingly talented performer! Having watched some You tube material I decided to buy the CDs. They are great but her performance seemed muted and a bit to polished compared to her live material. I would have bought it anyway just to support her but I'd be interested to know if the material is polished up for the US market or it just comes out that way. It is very difficult to capture all the soul and grit of a live performance in the studio.

Anything by Albert King gets my vote.

Anything to do with Albert King is amazing. The jury is still out on the remastering because, on my cheap old system with no proper EQ , the balance is not as I would like it. The drums and bass are far too high in the mix for my liking. I won't know if it's just down to the remastering until I can play it on a better system. I loved this on the original vinyl so maybe it is the engineering from young ears that is the problem; as too much drums and bass is a more modern problem.
