Amazing World War 2 Story of What Girls Can Do
This is an amazing, little-known story of how Girl Guides (Girl Scouts in the US) jumped right in and kept Britain running during World War 2. Their contributions in labor (from teaching and farming and health care to factory work) allowed other people in Britain, male and female, to do other important work.
Many unaccompanied children and other people came from the big cities of Britain and European countries to the countryside and to small towns, hoping to avoid the bombing. Girl Guides pitched in, and even helped on the continent at the end of the war.
It's a big story I read many years ago. Now I buy copies for others.
