All around great!
While this is a DVD produced in Korea, it is all region, and excellent work. The color is vibrant, the sound excellent, and overall quality is exceptional. The movie was originally released in 1963 and this disc is as good as you would see in theaters. Very pleased to have a great copy of a really good movie, and to see three outstanding actors - Heston, Niven, and Gardner - at their best.

A great story, based on history, and filmed on location!
Made in 1964 and actually filmed in Malaysia, this is one of the very few movies to deal with the Communist insurgency in Malaya in the 1950's. Set in 1953, it is a war story, a love story, and a tale of competing loyalties that pits two World War Two combatants against one another in the struggle for Malayan independence from England. The cast is superb, William Holden is perfectly cast and the others are equally good. For the military buff, the weapons and equipment are all authentic and the battle scenes well done -- with the exception that the explosions are more "fiery" than real life. All in all, a very enjoyable, albeit a bit long, film and worth watching!
