Great secondhand bargain
I love this camera. The difference between a high end semi-professional camera and a true professional one is huge. For things like sports photography, the D2x is fantastic with up to 8FPS at 6.7M pixels or 5FPS at full 12.1M pixels with a buffer that can take tons of shots before it fills up.
The time from switch on to being ready for the first photo is zero. Yes ZERO! It is available and ready to take the first shot instantly!
The image quality is also superb with in camera controls for sharpening, colour balance, hue, etc.
Autofocus is also super fast, assuming your lens works that quickly, and very accurate.
Overall, a superb camera and now available on ebay at a real bargain price. New they were £3500, but you can pick up one in excellent condition for around a fifth of that now!

Great secondhand buy!
7 of 7 found this helpful I bought the D70 secondhand as a backup camera body. I have to say that it fits the bill perfectly. My main digital SLR is a Fujifilm Finepix S5 Pro which is great for fantastic pictures, but it is also quite bulky and heavy when you just want to go out for the day and take a camera with you "just in case".
The Nikon is great to use and the only thing that changed much between the handling of the D70 and the D80 was the size of the display. The D70 has the older 1.8" display which looks tiny by today's standards but it is clear. Of course there are the differences in the number of megapixels, but don't let that tempt you to splash out loads more cash. The number of pixels is harldy important unless you want to print at sizes larger than A3. You will see loads of stuff in magazines about the fact that you should never be printing at less than 180-200 ppi for good prints, which is true if you always look at your prints from two inches away with a magnifying glass, which no one does! I have prints on my wall that are 20 x 30 and were taken with a 5 megapixel camera and they look absolutely great!
If you are looking for a first digital SLR then the Nikon D70 will do you proud and it will take most Nikon lenses made since around 1959 without adaptors! OK so you won't have autofocus with the manual focus lenses and you may not get auto exposure with the older ones either, but they are cheap to pick up and doing things manually really does improve your photography dramatically as it makes you think about what you are doing!

We keep going back to SPV's
1 of 1 found this helpful My wife has had an SPVC500 for about 4 years now, since they first came out. When I saw it, I bought a C550. It went wrong after a couple of years, so I moved to other phones. We've both tried several other phones, LG Chocolate, Sony Ericsson K800i, K640i, Motorola V3, Samsung, etc. but we both keep going back to the SPV. I got an SPV E650 on contract, but got fed up with it crashing and sold it. Now I have an SPV C600 bought secondhand from ebay and I love it. It is reliable, functional, has great features, etc. I guess if the iPhone was cheaper, I'd have one of those. Yes, I could afford one right now if I wanted to, but I don't think for a moment that it is worth what they are charging for it, so I'll stick with my SPV as a phone and my iPod Touch, which is effectively an iPhone without the phone function! Once the iPhone gets to a sensible price, I will probably buy one, but knowing Apple, they will keep the price high. Such is life!
