Serves well as a source control router and Headphone Amplifier!
A most excellent period piece, riding the transition between tactile control, vs. everything by infrared remote. This was a time when there was major concern about computer clocking noises infiltrating into the audio path. This unit does NOT use continuous clocking or control scanning. Electronic source switching is used every input except the Tape 2 Monitor switch, which is likely to become intermittent...It happens to be the gate keeper to the volume control. Easy solution is to link the switch out of circuit, and forego using Tape 2 playback for anything. The output protection relay can also go intermittent... Just pop the cover of the relay off, and clean up the contacts! A little potentiometer cleaner for the volume control, and all is well. A reasonably easy unit to modify.
