Rapala RSSK Ice saftey spikes are heavy and feel clumsy.
1 of 2 found this helpful Hi,
These safety spikes seem compact when put together and lay flat on the chest.
The cord feels durable.
They feel like quality.
When wearing around the neck, they feel a little heavier than necessary.
Most important:
When grabbing in an emergency, they come apart kind of hard, partially due to the shape. Some fiddling would be required.
Of course once you pull them apart the spikes are facing the wrong direction. All the spikes I've seen do have this problem. but the shape would add to the confusion in an emergency.
The finger groves seem to be a bad idea. They would be much better rounded for applying force no matter how you grab them. There would be no time to fiddle with them to use the finger groves if you are in cold water.
Will I wear them. Yes. But I feel like there could be a better design. I don't have a better alternative other than not breaking through in the first place.
