Easiest way to set up a dual battery & solar system
3 of 3 found this helpful The 1225D is well designed, looks good and is the easiest, in vehicle, smart charger I have come across. I fixed it into the inside of a customised battery box and fixed two anderson plugs to the box, one to accept incoming solar, the other to accept incoming from the alternator.
Once connected the charger takes over and manages your battery and various inputs & output effortlessly. If there is no alternator input, the solar takes over, no solar the reverse.
If dual feeds are detected, it simply uses both (preferencing the solar to improve fuel economy). In my opinion its the only way to set up a dual battery & solar system.

Great quality without the price
Great alternative to buying from Redarc, so much cheaper for exactly the same product. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to use the best and safest fusing solution out there when is comes to large 12v Amp installations.
