Tormek, a great product giving great results for sharpening.
because I am sometimes unsure of myself, I probably watched about 30 hours of you tube on the Tormek. before I got it I read the manual on line. once the Tormek arrived I set it up immediately and following the instructions I took my worst knife and went slowly.
It turned out tremendously. very sharp and a good appearance on the edge.
I also bought the htk 806 kit. I grabbed one of the worst curved wood turning tools that I have and sharpened it to perfection and the small knife adapter and sharpened 3 pocket knives of different qualities and of course the better ones sharpened better, and a filet knife with the long knife holder which did well.
a buddy of mine has 2 old knives about 6 inches long worn to a frazzle, about 6 inches long and after the first inch from the handle the blades are 3/8 tall and 1/4 inch tall. I put them in the jig but they are so small that the jig hit the wheel before the blade so I could not use the jig. I decided to freehand these knives and they turned out pretty good for an amateur.
I am going to buy the sk123 to make adjustments a bit easier. The local supplier does not have so I will wait a few days to order it. No rush. I am half thinking about doing a little side line of sharpening just to make some extra walk around money.
If you are a fan of quality made products and intricacy, This is it. Fun to use, accurate, and straight forward. You get a sense of pride using quality products and doing a quality job.
While some people think this is a bit expensive or extravagant, think how much you pay for a couple of good diamond sharpening stones and how long it takes to get a great edge. To me, well worth the investment
Gary.
