Oldie but goodie
I have always liked the appearance of the Scorpion, so I was glad to find it again. It just looks like a fighter.
This kit is a re-issue of a 1960's release, so kit shows that. The panel lines are a bit coarse, but the parts fit is OK. Overall, it captures the look of the F-89 nicely.

Commands and Colors in a new century
This game extends the Commands and Colors game mechanic in an unexpected direction: early 20th Century warfare, specifically World War 1.
The physical components are top notch: Good thick cardboard markers and terrain pieces for woods, structures, trenches, and terrain. The board is hard mounted and is two-sided. One side the muddy, as appropriate for a WW-1 battlefield, and the other green, grassy terrain.
Hard plastic miniature figures are used for the playing pieces, not the soft flexible polyethylene (as Battle Cry) or blocks (as in the Napoleonic and Ancients from GMT). These are scaled 1/100th and should take paint better, if that is your preference.
The game uses a combination of cards and dice to dictate the movement and firing actions permitted by the "troops." Great War adds another deck of combat cards with different actions that may be performed in combat by the expenditure of "HQ tokens "Great War also adds a more detailed artillery mechanic to reflect the indirect fire that dominated WW-1.
A randomized shell cratering is performed before the game starts, but after terrain is placed, producing a different terrain for each game.
This appears to be a very good adaptation of the C&C concept, differentiated from all its forebears.

Struggles in the boondocks
This is a wargame simulation of a largely unknown conflict in the US Civil War. The campaign is the attempt by the Union forces to disrupt the Confederate railway link between Charleston SC and Savannah GA.
The game shows the results of a lot historical research. The history is contained in separate booklet. Two other booklets contain the basic and advanced games. The map is equal to that of large company products. The counter sheet (punch-out) is of identical quality to other commercial products. Player aid cards provide quick access to often used tables. All-in-all, this game a lot of product and information for the money.
Products from small publishers are often short on one aspact or another. This is one is over the top in research and in production value.
