Adaptation and Mastery
A new comic adaptation of a complex, fascinating horror novel by William Hope Hodgson. Written and drawn by Richard Corben; probably comic book art’s greatest living master.
It’s not his finest work, but it is a unique example of literary adaptation, A personal interest as he’s also adapted & re-conceived many pieces by Edgar Allen Poe. I was introduced to Corben through this work, and recount listening to the 18 hour audiobook of “The Night Land” to be an almost liturgical experience.
Find Hodgson through Corben, or vice-versa.

The Years of Rice and Salt
This might be the finest novel by Kim Stanley Robinson. What a dream, to have a thousand years of life, with the ones we love, to get it right.
