The Polk RTi38's: Quality vintage speaker, even for use with a 2014 set-up.
The Polk Audio RTi38 Main/Stereo Speakers are vintage speakers. The quality of the drivers, and the cabinet build, is wonderful. They have a warm sound with a reasonable frequency range for rear speakers. Dollar for dollar, they are just as good, if not better, than any new polk speaker with similar specs.
The RTi38's are designed to be used with either of these front towers: RTI150, or RTi70. The matching center is either the CSi30 or CSi40.
The RTi38's blend wonderfully with this set. They also make wonderful stereo speakers, but do best if a sub accompanies them in any set up.
Lastly, even if you purchase them as rear speakers to use with some other current Polk Tower or Center, you won't be disappointed. I have found the timbre balance between the Polk Family of speakers to match well even if you mix and match. But of course, it is always best to match all your speakers with the family they were initially designed to "stage" with.
The ONLY negative thing I found is that these speakers do not have pre-drilled holds for wall mounts and/or speaker stands. It does, however, have a keyhole wall mount on the back. But they are heavy, so I don't think I'd use this method to hang them on the wall. They require either a speaker stand or shelf to be on the safe side . . . but they are, after all, shelf speakers!
