Works great for adding AirPlay to stereo receiver. (TosLink to RCA adapter also needed).
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this model in particular because later ones do not have the digital output. By adding a $12 digital TosLink-to-stereo RCA Adapter (and an unused USB wall wart I had), I was able to give my old stereo the ability to play music via AirPlay from my iPhone or MacBook Pro.
NOTE: I used to use an Apple Airport Express to do this, but Apple stopped upgrading them after they reached the 802.11n protocol, and I wanted to upgrade my Wifi. Of course, now Apple is out of the WiFi network business altogether, so I was able to purchase a couple of Airport Extremes with 802.11ac protocols on eBay for reasonable prices, and have replaced all three Airport Expresses I had. (I have a big house and it takes several devices to cover all of it).

Expensive but a pleasure to use!
This tool is so much better than any other Desoldering method I have tried. The price put me off for a long time, but now that I have it, I wouldn't go back!

I like it bette than the UV-5R
3 of 5 found this helpful I personally prefer this radio to the UV-5R, which I also own. I think the receiver is better, and deals with strong signals better. I also am a fan of the knob at the top for changing the memory channel.
The radio is still more difficult to manually program than my Yaesu HT's, but at a tenth of the price (I got mine $29.99 delivered!) it is still a great value. Especially when considering that it comes with an earphone and microphone! I will confess that I haven't had good luck using the free CHIRP software and supplied cable on my Windows 7 laptop, although I HAVE been able to program the radio from my Macbook Pro. I still prefer the program and cable from RT Systems, but they are way more than the radio!
I have read reviews that say the supplied screws are too short for the belt clip - mine were fine.
I am recommending this specific model to young hams that don't have the money for an HT from the big three.
For the price, highly recommended!
