Perking up an old Goat
1 of 1 found this helpful This was an easy electronic ignition upgrade to replace the antediluvian points and condenser inside the original Delco distributor. I also replaced the stock coil with a Flame Thrower coil from the same manufacturer (as recommended). After the installation in my 1969 GTO, I noticed the car started easier and idled much smoother. Once the motor reached normal operating temperature I found it had a quicker throttle response. I did need to adjust the fast idle on the carburetor to slow down the idle as it was running so much more efficiently. To my surprise, I saw the engine was running cooler also. I highly recommend the 1181LS (Lobe Sensing) igniter over the older 1181 as it can be installed without having to remove the distributor.

Best Gun Lubricant
I had been using Break Free CLP for decades. I now use Slip 2000 exclusively. It is slick and does not attract dust.
