It's worth getting a video to HDMI Monoprice converter box
This converter is a great value for the money in that it actually works! Many other video to HDMI converters here on Ebay right now (7-31-2018) do not! I like this unit for its HDMI pass through and good picture.

Nice little monitor BUT color may NOT work without help (see below)
These little monitors want very clean timing on the signals to get the color to work...
------------THE BAD Colors------------
SEGA Genesis (edge color)
VHS VCR play-snarly color
SOME Jakks pacific plug n play (Hanna Montanna works,Dora does not)
XXXX in 1 NES emulated game pads-none tested have any color
(retroplay,bible explorer,powerjoy,ect...)
------------And here is what works ----THE GOOD------------------
DVD player output
Vtech V-smile and V-flash
Playstation 2 (PS1 has vert colorlines but with correct color)
Nintendo 64
Super nintendo (probably)
However there is a way to fix this!!!!
Use a DVD recorder...Magnvox DVR MWR 10D6, Sylvania DVR90DG, Presidian Cat. No. 16-163 all tested (same inside)
It just happens to "fix" the color signal for everything tried here!
Just pass the signal through it...don't need a DVD!
It must have a time base corrector (TBC)
Other DVD recorders may work too(+some VCRS with TBC?)
The Magnavox model as of 7/28/2017 is all over E-bay; even one that wont record DVD's anymore should work! Be sure
to get the remote-it's to set the input type (Video or s-video jacks)
